Comments on DH?

A couple people have alerted me that they tried leaving very witty, insightful comments to my last post. However, it appears that because I left my reactions to Deathly Hallows as a really long comment, Blogger refuses to accept any more for that post.

So please respond here if you wish...

"I did enjoy it. I have to say I wasn't terribly surprised with the way it ended. It seemed like a pretty standard fantasy/sacrificial lamb type of ending. I was...a bit surprised at how many people she killed. It turns out I was right about Snape and Dumbledore. I enjoyed the struggle between searching for the Horcruxes or Hallows. There was speculation that Harry was also a Horcrux , so it didn't surprise me when that also turned out to be true.

"I would have really liked to know what happened with Luna. It seemed for awhile that she and Neville might get together, but in the end it looked more like it was Dean. And yes, how did Neville get the sword? There were, I think, a couple of references concerning the sword and how it gets to the person who really needs it. Not sure where those are, but that's the impression I got. It was funny -- I'd not really liked Dobby much but he was the only one I actually shed tears for when he died. I think there was too much going on when the others died for it to really sink in. I also think I may have to read at least parts of it again."

  2. I thought later that perhaps Neville got the sword from the Sorting Hat which Voldemort tried burning on his head. I need to check out that section again to see if that might be an explanation.

  3. My incredibly witty and insightful comment was about the sword and how Neville got it from the Sorting Hat. How it got from the goblin to the Sorting Hat I don't know. When Harry pulled it from the Sorting Hat in Chamber of Secrets the sword had been in Dumbledore's office. I imagine the goblin couldn't have been happy about it disappearing if the Sorting Hat took it from him when Neville needed it.
