Nail Damage

I never knew how damaging on your fingernails traveling is. I think I broke all but two of my nails on the trip. I just broke another while typing here at work (which made me think of it). I checked with Sal before the trip to see if she was taking her clippers, in which case I wouldn't take mine (to lighten my load). I'm pretty sure I had possession of her clippers more than she did during the trip. Next time I'm just going to clip them all short ahead of time and avoid the hassle!

  1. a couple days ago I asked Marie to make some jello. In the course of talking about it I admitted that I needed to eat jello because my nails were breaking.

  2. I remember the summer I got back from Spain I wanted to eat Jello all the time. I never ate it over there. My nails were super strong that summer.

What kind of Jello did you get? I like green Jello the best.

  3. I like any color. I especially like the flavor of red. Blue doesn't always taste good. I'm making fun. Jello does have very specific flavors. not like candies where flavor doesn't always fit the color. We get both sugared and artificially sweetened jellos at the bulk food store over towards Onekama. It's very good. the last jello Marie made was orange/kiwi. not real jello, I think. d.

  4. I could get by with orange in a pinch (but orange/kiwi sounds nasty). I guess I need to get over to Safeway and pick up some jello boxes!

  5. Actually it was Strawberry/Kiwi and it was bland. It also came out of a real Jello box. Fortunately we have some whipped topping to go with it.

My nails are somewhat breaky these days, too. It's the dry indoor air with artifical heat. I started the humidifier. It drinks a gallon or more of water every day.

  6. Who knew a post about breaking a nail would get so much ink?

I can understand strawberry/kiwi. I wouldn't choose it but I can understand it better than orange/kiwi!

I've been using my heater a lot since I've been back. I need to figure out some way of stopping the cold air coming in around the windows. Especially in the bathroom. My apartment wasn't made for cold temperatures.

  7. You should put plastic up on your window. We did a couple windows last night and it makes a HUGE difference. You can get one for the inside of the window that uses double sided tape and a hair dryer to tighten it down and you can actually see through it.

  8. I was thinking of that. I guess I need to make a trip to the hardware store (if they even have that kind of thing out here).

  9. I meant kits for sealing up windows, not hardware stores. Obviously we have hardware stores in California. Silly!

  10. My dad calls it Ghetto Glass but I don't care. It makes it a LOT warmer in my house.

  11. After describing the built-in holes in the frame of my bathroom window and how cold it gets in there, I realized that maybe it would help to block them up somehow (duh!). So this morning after my shower, I tucked a small towel in the window where the holes are. When I got home from work I went in the bathroom and it was cool but not cold. I'm very well pleased.
